The Teacher Retirement System of Texas is honored to host the 66th annual Southern Conference on Teacher Retirement in Austin, Texas. The conference will be held from April 18-- April 21, 2010 with accommodations provided by the Hilton Austin.
Austin, the Capital of Texas is, located in Central Texas on the eastern edge of the American Southwest. It is the fourth-largest city in Texas and the 15th-largest in the United States. As Austin's official slogan is The Live Music Capital of the World, the city has a vibrant live music scene with more music venues per capita than any other U.S. city
A rich and creative culture is not all that forms Austin's landscape. As the gateway to the Texas Hill Country, rolling hills and sparkling waterways abound in Austin making outdoor and water activities a perfect way to spend a free afternoon.
The Southern Conference on Teacher Retirement is building a heavily interactive and ambitious agenda for the 2010 conference to address a number of issues facing the industry and your retirement system. We have received confirmation from our special guest presenters; Cokie Roberts, Lynn Swann and Mark Goldstein. Also incorporated into the agenda is a series of industry based panels ranging in topics from system administration issues to trustee education. While visiting Austin, we will also have an opportunity to visit the LBJ Presidential Library, our Wednesday Luncheon Program will be held at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and we have scheduled some evening events so that all can appreciate Austin's official slogan "The Live Music Capital of the World."
The Hilton Austin, located in downtown Austin, offers its The Tower Health Club & Spa -- featuring a spa, pool deck and health club. In addition, the hotel is only one block from Austin's famous Sixth Street nightlife and a short stroll to the entertainment, shopping and dining in the Warehouse Entertainment District.
Austin is a beautiful city and we are proud to host this year's conference and to be able to share this special place with you.
Warm regards,
